Why I made it
Turning the beginning of a product idea into a useful artifact often starts with a blank document and a large amount of implicit product knowledge. I wanted to see whether a person could begin with the idea in their own words instead.
What it became
A person described the product in two or three sentences, selected the artifact they needed and received a first draft. The Next.js application could produce a product requirements document, suggest software and skills needed to build it, or create a concise email summary using an OpenAI completion model.
What happened
I began productAIze in December 2022, the same month ChatGPT was released, and continued iterating on it into 2023. Its outputs would feel familiar now; at the time, it was my first attempt to turn natural-language interaction with a model into concrete professional work rather than a chat response.
